We have community garden plots on the north side of the church parking lot.
Sherry Anderson, a deceased member of our parish, had an idea that we needed to have a community garden on our church property. For over ten years she went to parish council and asked for permission to start the planning of the garden. Sherry really believed in the idea of a garden for the community. She never gave up on this idea. Each year she was told no, but finally she got the ok to start the planning process in 2017. The garden had to be self-supporting and at zero cost to the church. We formed a committee of 8 people that worked on the planning of the garden for the next year. We received a grant from Hennepin County for the fence, and some anonymous donors granted us funds to run the water pipes. The Knights put up the fence for the garden. We plotted out the plots, wrote a contract and advertised the garden. We were ready to start the garden in 2018.
