Ministers Postions

Serving as Ministers of Hospitality, Ushers warmly welcome those who arrive for Mass, provide information about the building/parish as needed, assist with the Communion Procession, take up the collection during Mass, and distribute the bulletin and other tasks after Mass.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the Presider in distribution of the Body and, when applicable, the Precious Blood of Christ to the Assembly. Confirmed Catholics are welcome to serve as Eucharistic Ministers.

The Mass Coordinator arrives early to monitor the arrival of all liturgical ministers, arranges for the Cross Bearer and Gift Bearers, serves as a resource during the celebration of the Mass, and performs lock-up tasks after Mass. Confirmed Catholics are welcome to serve as Mass Coordinators.

Proclaimers of the Word, also called Lectors, prepare the presentation of the Scripture Readings and Prayer of the Faithful. Confirmed Catholics who possess a clear, strong voice and an aptitude for effective interpretation and delivery of the spoken word are welcome to serve as Lectors.

The Sacristan arrives early to light altar candles, prepare the vessels, elements of bread and wine and other supplies needed for the celebration of the Mass, and assists the Presider at the altar during the Mass, and clears up after Mass.

“Good Christian liturgy is friendship in action, love taking thought, the covenant relationship between God and his people not simply discovered and celebrated like the sudden meeting of friends, exciting and worthwhile though that is, but thought through and relished, planned and prepared — an ultimately better way for the relationship to grow and at the same time a way of demonstrating what the relationship is all about.”
