Fr. Charles V. Lachowitzer, Pastor

Father Charles V. Lachowitzer was ordained as a priest of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis in 1990. His first assignment was as Parochial Vicar for the Church of St. Michael in Stillwater and principal of St. Croix Catholic School. In 1993, he was appointed pastor of the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Maplewood. In 2002, he was appointed pastor of the Church of St. John Neumann in Eagan and president of the Board of Directors for Faithful Shepherd Catholic School. In 2013, he was appointed as Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia for the Archdiocese. In 2021, he was appointed as pastor of the Church of St. Gerard Majella in Brooklyn Park and Vicar General in the field for the Archdiocese.

Prior to entering the St. Paul Seminary in 1985, he was a public high school teacher, summer camp program director, elementary school principal and independent school district superintendent all in Washington State. He grew up on the East Side of St. Paul, attended St. Pascal’s Catholic School, Harding High School and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Fr. Paul was born and grew up in Can Tho city that belongs to the Southwest region of Vietnam. He graduated from high school and College in Can Tho city. In 1994, he began studying at Saint Doan Cong Quy Seminary, Cai Rang district, Can Tho city and studied there for seven years.

On December 18th, 2001. Fr. Paul was ordained a priest by Bishop Emmanuel Thuan Phong Le. Can Tho Diocese with the slogan to live a priestly life: “I am made all things to all men” (1 Cr 9, 22b). He served as a Parochial Vicar in Vi Hung Parish, Vi Thanh city. In 2003, he served in Rach Suc parish, Can Tho city.

In July 2011, he was appointed the first pastor of Binh An parish. In June 2018, he was appointed the first pastor of Thoi Long Xuan parish, Can Tho city.

In January 2019, Fr. Paul was sponsored by his family to settle in the United States. He is living with his family in Fridley, Minnesota.

In July 2021, he was assigned by Fr. Charles V. Lachowitzer, pastor of the Church of St. Gerard Majella, to be a Parochial Vicar (VIET). He continues to serve the Vietnamese community there today.

On June 18, 2024 Fr. Paul became an American Citizen.
